Product Information

Disposable soft lenses are so popular in the contact lens market that it’s easy to forget that there are other options out there. The truth is that not so very long ago, disposable soft lenses were not the norm. While this type of lens has come to dominate the market in recent years, there are people who have not lost sight of all of the advantages that hard lenses have to offer. Besides, hard contact lenses are not what they used to be; there have been some major changes made for the better. SA 18 contact lenses are a traditional hard lens with a lot of modern-day benefits.

One thing that hard contact lenses have always had going for them is durability. Soft lenses typically have a high water content. While the added moisture can be helpful to those who suffer from dry eyes, it also makes the lenses fragile and challenging to handle. SA 18, also known as Phoenix 18 contact lenses, are made from a substance known as Kolfocon B. The lenses are 100 percent polymer, which means they’re strong and long lasting. Besides durability, another advantage to having a lens with no water content is the fact that these lenses stay clean, as high moisture content leaves lenses open to the build-up of bacteria. This soft lens issue can cause eye irritation and, even worse, infection. There’s no need to worry about eye dryness, though, because Phoenix 18 contact lenses are designed to seal moisture in, keeping eyes comfortable throughout the day.

A big difference between the original hard contacts and today’s lenses is that modern day hard contacts are highly breathable. RGP contact lenses (or rigid gas permeable) are manufactured to allow high levels of oxygen to pass through the lens. This means that eyes get the oxygen they need and stay healthy and bright. RGP contact lenses are made to order. Due to the fact that these lenses are created according to specific vision needs, SA 18 contact lenses provide sharp, stable vision. They’re also made to last. These durable lenses can be worn daily for up to a year before replacing. Of course, Phoenix contacts need to be removed, cleaned, sanitized, and stored at the end of each day to keep eyes healthy and lenses in good shape.

When you’re ready to give SA 18 contact lenses a try, be sure to have a look at the prices on Lens.com. Since we keep a close eye on competitor prices, you know you will be getting the best value in contact lenses. With hassle-free returns, 100% money-back customer satisfaction, and quick shipping, you can’t go wrong with purchasing your contact lenses from Lens.com.

SA 18 (Phoenix 18) FAQs

Can I use my eyeglass prescription for SA 18 (Phoenix 18) contact lenses?

Unfortunately no, you can't use your eyeglass prescription for SA 18 (Phoenix 18) lenses. Your eyeglass prescription only has the power part of the contact lens prescription. In addition to the power, the proper base curve (BC) and diameter (DIA) are needed to order contact lenses. Contact lenses come in different sizes and must be fit to your eye by an Optometrist or Ophthalmologist. As a replacement center, we can only sell you contact lenses that you are already wearing successfully. So ultimately eyeglass prescriptions are not the same as a prescription for SA 18 (Phoenix 18) contacts. See an ECP/optometrist if you're looking for a contact lens prescription and fitting as a first-time-wearer.

Can I buy SA 18 (Phoenix 18) for someone else?

Yes, you can buy SA 18 (Phoenix 18) contacts online for someone else, for example a child or someone you're assisting with making a purchase. The same simple steps apply. At Lens.com you'll only need to know what contacts you want, their prescription, the contact info of the person's ECP (for prescription verification), and a credit card. We'll do the rest!

How old do you have to be to wear SA 18 (Phoenix 18) contact lenses?

Like most contacts, including SA 18 (Phoenix 18), they can be worn by teens and potentially pre-teens as well, per the direction of an ECP. In general, there is no fixed minimum age for wearing contacts, as it's a judgment call based on lifestyle habits, budget, and of course your ECP's guidance. Contacts do require care and consistency in usage and maintenance/cleaning and these are the lifestyle factors you should consider when thinking about contacts for a child.

Are SA 18 (Phoenix 18) sold on Lens.com authentic? Why is it cheaper than other vendors?

Yes, all contacts sold on Lens.com are 100% authentic, including SA 18 (Phoenix 18) and come with a money-back guarantee. Lens.com is able to sell contacts extremely competitively by buying and selling in volume, by smartly managing costs and overhead, and by accepting smaller but fairer profit margins versus other e-tailers and ECPs in exchange for building a satisfied customer base. We stand by our product and offer 24/7 live-customer support.

Where can I buy SA 18 (Phoenix 18) contacts?

SA 18 (Phoenix 18) lenses are available to purchase at online retailers, some brick-and-mortar stores, and eye care professionals near you. Are online SA 18 (Phoenix 18) contact lenses the same as from your eye doctor?

The guarantee that this will be the case of course varies based on where online you make your purchase. At Lens.com, all contacts are authentic, FDA-approved, and the same as you might purchase from your ECP but at a discounted price, thanks to our lower cost and better volumes.

How do I read my SA 18 (Phoenix 18) prescription?

How to tell if my SA 18 (Phoenix 18) contacts are inside out?

You will know SA 18 (Phoenix 18) contacts are inside-out if they feel uncomfortable in your eye. An inside-out contact lens will also move too much when you blink, and they may even pop out. Some contacts feature an inside-out mark that can be checked once removed, but this is not the case with all lenses.

Can I renew my SA 18 (Phoenix 18) RX/prescription online?

Yes, you can renew your prescription of SA 18 (Phoenix 18) lenses online. At Lens.com. we need only your previous prescription to begin the quick process of renewing your prescription online, and it takes only 10 minutes. In fact, you can renew any contact prescription, for any brand with Lens.com, including for a prescription for glasses. Of course, this service is only available in the 37 states which are not under the thumb of the American Optometric Association. Check here to see if you live in a privileged state.

Can SA 18 (Phoenix 18) contacts expire?

Like all contact lenses, SA 18 (Phoenix 18) lenses do expire. The expiration date will be stamped on the box itself or on the aluminum fold of the blister pack in either a YYYY-MM or YYYY-MM-DD format. Typically, the expiration date for contacts is several years after the date of packaging.

How should I store my SA 18 (Phoenix 18) contact lenses?

Daily disposable contacts cannot be stored and must be discarded at the end of each day. Even if you wear them for only a few hours one day, you still need to discard them after that use and wear a fresh pair of contacts the next day.

You may keep weekly contacts in multi-purpose contact solution in a tightly closed contact lens case for up to 2 weeks.

For monthly replacement lenses you may store them in contact solution in a tightly closed contact lens case for up to 30 days.

Do I need a prescription, or a copy of my prescription in order to buy SA 18 (Phoenix 18)?

Yes, you do require a valid prescription in order to buy SA 18 (Phoenix 18) or any contacts in the United States, per Federal Law. However, at Lens.com having a copy of your prescription in your possession is not required to place an order (though be aware it's something that is owed to you by your ECP once you complete an eye examination so that you can choose where to purchase your contacts). If you don't have a copy in your possession, Lens.com representatives will help verifying your prescription by calling your ECP for you. Provide us with the basic information, sit back, and relax.

How long does it take to adjust to wearing SA 18 (Phoenix 18) contacts?

If you're wearing SA 18 (Phoenix 18) for the first time, it can take several days to a couple of weeks for you to adjust to wearing them on a daily basis. Contacts vary from brand to brand in terms of their shape, material, breathability, wetting agents used, and other factors, thus requiring an adjustment period. Rigid/hard lenses can sometimes take longer to adjust to, whereas most contacts in use today employ a soft form of silicone that is typically easy to adjust to.

Yes, you can still order SA 18 (Phoenix 18) if you don't have a hard copy of your RX/prescription on hand. As long as you have a valid contact lens prescription (which will be on file at your ECP's) you can still place an order with us at Lens.com. Is SA 18 (Phoenix 18) contact lens FDA-approved?

Yes, SA 18 (Phoenix 18) is FDA-approved. Are SA 18 (Phoenix 18) contacts tinted (aka ‘handling tint’), for improved visibility?

No, SA 18 (Phoenix 18) lenses do not include a tint for cleaning and handling purposes.

The SA 18 saves me money!

I was tired of always having to buy contact lenses and spend so much money on them so I wanted to make a switch to a rigid gas permeable contact lens. I had heard mixed reviews of them from people but my eyes are pretty resilient. I tried out a few to no avail when finally I tried the SA 18 on. It was much more comfortable than the other ones. I have been wearing them now for 3 years and the shortest one has lasted me has been 13 months. I am very glad I switched.

The SA 18 contact lenses are my favorite RGPs

The SA 18 contact lenses are my favorite RGPs. I have been wearing rgp's for about 12 years and I made the switch to these 2 years ago. They always give me the best sight and they are the most comfortable. I don't see myself switching again anytime soon, especially since this site is so much cheaper than buying from my optometrist.
